Eileen Maxson solo exhibition at UNT, CVAD gallery

April 10th artist talk at 5pm

"The Word is Not Lucky" by artist Eileen Maxson, curated by Mónica Salazar, CVAD lecturer in Art History.

On April 10th Eileen Maxson will hold an artist talk in person at UNT at 5pm

"The Word Is Not Lucky" includes works primarily from the series which processes the flooding of her parent's home during Hurricane Harvey and her grandfather's death two years earlier. Maxson is a visiting assistant professor of integrated media at Oberlin College and Conservatory, Oberlin, Ohio. She is an interdisciplinary artist working at the confluence of video, performance, installation, and photography. Through the lens of family experience, humor, and pathos, her work confronts the American Dream within a capitalistic society and calls out promises, shifting them into wry reflections on the impact of media and consumer culture and their legacies.
