St Louis Art Museum Acquires work by Tamara Johnson

We are very excited to announce that the St Louis Art Museum Acquires work by Tamara Johnson. After her successful solo exhibition "Currents 123" which ran from April 5–September 22, 2024 in correlation with a teaching fellowship a the Washington University in St. Louis.  The exhibition broke away from the walls and built a plateau which contained hyper realistic sculptures that felt like remnants of a backyard fair. However on close inspection the work would be a humorous take on these 'common' and recognizable objects executed in concrete, silicone and remnants of glass. The work selected by the museum for their permanent collection was "Cracker with Cheese" acquired through The Henry L. and Natalie Edison Freund Charitable Trust and received the accession number 125:2024

We would like to recognize and express a special thank you to Genny Cortinovis, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Associate Curator of Decorative Arts and Design at Saint Louis Art Museum, for making this possible and Dana Lewis, assistant Registrar for her guidance throughout the process.

We look forward to the works presence in the collection and its public viewing.
