"My Long Shadow and I" is a group show that explore the underbelly of American culture. By recognizing our shadows, we find growth – too short and we become cocky, too long we become entrenched. It’s a balance of acknowledgment. Looking back at American underground comix from the '60s and '70s, we see how they gave voice to counterculture, though it took years to become part of the American lexicon. Now, 60 years later, generations of artists continue to fuel this visual vernacular using it as a reliable medium for humor, self-deprecation, and a truthful wink.
